15 Best Condo Pets Not Only You Would Love But Your Neighbors Too

Are you a pet lover who wants to move in a condo or already owns a condo in the Philippines? For sure, you’re already cooking-up plans on keeping a pet but is still not sure on what suits in your condo environment. There are different variety of pets that you can choose from which are admissible when residing in a condo.

If you really aspire to keep a pet in your condo, you should ensure that your condo allows this setup.  You can ask them if they have any regulations and requirements corresponding to it.  Other than that, you must check if the facilities provided in your condo would fit your pet’s needs.  It should be something that would not give you any problems in taking care of your pet.  Also, it should make your pet in your condo blissful and more comfortable.

Beyond doubt, the most common domestic pets that are also ideal in a condo setting are cats and dogs but other than that, other pets that are smaller and idiosyncratic can also be added to your choices.

1. Goldfish

Goldfish are known to be as a domesticated type of fish, it is one of the most commonly kept aquarium fishes which requires a low maintenance. Its breeds vary in size, shape, fin configuration and coloration. Its color can be combinations of white, yellow, orange, red, brown, and black.

 2. Clownfish

If you like “Nemo”, you may consider a clownfish for your place.  However, please take note that saltwater fishes like clownfish requires saltwater aquarium that needs more maintenance.  But for sure your guests will definitely love them!

3. Turtle

Choosing a turtle as your pet can also work in your condo.  Taking care of them is not that complicated and if properly cared, they can live for many decades.  It is important that you purchase an aquarium for your turtle wherein there would be enough room for your pet to roam around and to live in. Also, you have to ensure that there is ample supply of water that is regularly changed and a land/dry area in its aquarium

4. Rabbit

Rabbits are known to be sociable animals.  You can allow them to roam around your condo and just provide them with their litter box.  In case you don’t want them to ramble in your living area, you will need to purchase a big cage or his own rabbit condo where he has enough room to move and play.

To keep your rabbit’s teeth healthy, you can provide them rabbit chews as snacks.  This will help you to avoid your pet from chewing your furniture and other items in your place.

 5.  Ferret

Ferrets are very playful animals.  They are also sociable ones.  They can be litter box trained and they don’t grow big like some kittens and puppies.  Their average life span is 6 to 8 years.

Ferrets are active animals.  As such, they must be allowed to run free when they are awake.  If you intend to confine ferrets in a cage, you must choose a cage with enough room where they can play, eat, litter and sleep.

6. Pug

 Pugs are charming, playful, mischievous and affectionate.  This kind of dog can adapt easily to the environment and lifestyle.  You can allow them to just stay at home. You can also buy a costume for them and play dress-up on your free time. This breed of cute and adorable dog can play indoors.  However, take note that this type of dog have a harsh breathing habits when sleeping.

 7. Yorkshire Terrier

This breed of dog is cute, cuddly, quiet and compact. Yorkshire Terriers normally weighs from 6 to 7 pounds. They can adapt easily to people, situations and other pets.

8. Persian Cat

Persian cats are known to be affectionate and loyal.  They are also known as a wonderful companion.  These cats are territorial. Persians are also known to have long hairs that will shed.  These hairs can possibly cause hairballs, which may stain carpets and upholstery if not cleaned up accordingly.

Should you wish to keep more than two cats, you may consider purchasing a cat condo so your cats will have their own space where they can sleep and stay.

9. Siamese Cat

Siamese cats are very loyal and loving.  They are also known as vocal cats because they are talented in communicating with humans.  These cats are high maintenance emotionally but low maintenance in other features.  Since their hair is relatively short, they only need a little grooming.

Siamese cats are also known for being royalty. This is due to the fact that these type of cats are highly honored by generations of Siam’s kings.  They were believed to bring good luck and to give protection on different places such as palaces and monasteries from evil spirits.

10. Parakeets

These birds are also known as budgies or budgerigar.  Budgies or parakeets are actually small parrots.  They are the quiet type of birds thus, will not disturb you or your neighbors.

Budgies are playful and active birds.  Since they are very intelligent, some budgies can learn to talk. With proper training, budgies can be tamed and be friendly other than its owner.

11. Parrotlets

These are the smallest type of parrots. Their size ranges from 4 to 6 inches from head to the tip of their tail feathers.  These parrots are cute, charming, inquisitive and active.  They lack the ability to make noises like the other hookbills.  Their chatter and chirps are so soft that they won’t disturb your neighbors.

12. Arowana

Arowana is a beautiful fish.  This kind of fish will surely add beauty and class to your condo.  They are carnivorous and require meaty food.  They normally prefer live food such as feeder fish or shrimp.

If you decide to buy arowana as a pet in your condo, you must consider that arowana can grow an average of 3 to 4 feet.  As such, you must purchase an aquarium that is about 4 to 5 feet to provide enough room for your arowana’s growth.

13. Lhasa Apso

Lhasa apso dogs are small but sturdy ones.  They are very affectionate dogs.  They don’t need constant attention.  They are known as excellent watchdogs.  However, they don’t bark excessively.  You can bring these dogs out for a walk or just play with him inside your condo.

14. Chinchilla

Chinchillas love to be held and cuddled, very active and playful and are also easy to train.They are nocturnal so if you are pulling an all-nighter, Chinchilla’s can be a great companion and you can play with them during your breaks.

15. Miniature or Toy Poodle

Poodles are known to be smart, sassy and stylish.  They are easy to get along with, not only with humans but also with other pets.  You can make them happy with less space and less exercise.  They are eager to please, alert and responsive, playful and active.

You can now single out the pet that suits your needs and resources based on the list aforementioned.  These pets can endow with you the fun and love you want from a pet while not causing distractions to your neighbors.  All of them are satisfying to have but you must ensure that you take time to ask and research about their proper handling and care.

Pets are there to make us happy.  As such, it is important that we provide them the right care and treatment they need.  Before deciding to bring them home, we must be aware that we are responsible for their health and wellness. We also need to ensure that they have enough space in our condos to give them the freedom to roam around the space.
