Street Food Market Mercato Centrale is Headed to Acacia Estates

Events and Culture.

DMCI Homes’ Acacia Estates welcomes Mercato Centrale to showcase a diverse and delectable array of street food, turning the neighborhood into a lively food haven this Halloween season.

TAGUIG, Metro Manila – Mercato Centrale, the Philippines’ largest small food business incubator, is making its way to DMCI Homes’ Acacia Estates, Taguig from November 2 to November 5, Thursday through Sunday, running from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM each day. This event promises a feast of epic proportions, featuring an array of mouthwatering street food, grilled delicacies, international favorites, and much more.

The collaboration between DMCI Homes and The Mercato Centrale Group is driven by a shared commitment to community building and enhancing the lifestyles of Acacia Estates’ residents. Jem Labrague, DMCI Homes’ Commercial Leasing Supervisor, notes, “We wanted to provide an avenue where our residents can mingle with each other while keeping their bellies full. Aside from that, we’ve also invited our own residents to participate as merchants of the bazaar so they can promote their own businesses.”

The ‘Perfect Fit’ For Acacia Estates

The choice of Acacia Estates as the venue for this bazaar was deliberate. Its well-established community provided the ideal setting for an event that offers a unique blend of entertainment and gastronomy. Located near the Acacia Town Center, the bazaar complements the daily lives of residents, making it convenient for them to shop, dine, and connect with their neighbors. This, in turn, bolsters the promotion of the commercial spaces in the area due to increased foot traffic.

Planning an event of this magnitude came with its own set of challenges, including traffic logistics and utility provisions. However, the key challenge was ensuring that the bazaar would be as engaging as possible. John Philip Jugo, DMCI Homes’ Project Development Specialist, shared the solution: “Our biggest challenge would be to answer the question, ‘how are we going to make the bazaar as engaging as possible’? First, we had to find an organizer that has experience and is already established in the industry and, at the same time, has the same vision and values as our company. And Mercato Centrale is the perfect fit for us.”

Through their partnership with Mercato Centrale, DMCI Homes was able to bring their vision to life, emphasizing inclusivity. Residents are encouraged not only to attend the bazaar as patrons but also to participate as merchants, setting up stalls to promote their own products.

Jay Ocampo, a resident of Cedar Crest located in Acacia Estates, also expressed his excitement: “Having Mercato Centrale makes it convenient for us to celebrate not just Halloween but other special occasions near the community.”

Creating an Inclusive Bazaar Experience

DMCI Homes also sought a bazaar provider that aligned with the company’s vision and values to ensure the event promoted an engaged community. As Joanna Regalado, DMCI Homes’ Commercial Leasing Coordinator, noted, “Aside from being bazaar-goers, our residents can also participate as merchants of the bazaar wherein they can set up their own stall and promote their products. This is our effort to make the event as inclusive as possible.”

Accessibility is a priority as well. The bazaar is conveniently located at the heart of Acacia Estates, near the Town Center, making it easy for residents to walk to the event. For those who prefer to drive, ample parking spaces are provided at the Town Center.

Sustainability is another focus of this event. To address the common issue of trash build-up at bazaars, a “Clean as you go” policy has been implemented, with trash bins strategically placed throughout the area. Marshals will also be on hand to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the vicinity.

Feasting on Local and Global Delights

Mercato Centrale, which is featured in the World Atlas of Street Food published in 2017, is renowned as the Philippines’ premier food market. Co-founded by entrepreneur, host, and current Vice Consul of Monaco, RJ Ledesma, it was inspired by the vibrant food markets of Mercato Centrale in Italy, Boroughs market in London, and hawker-type markets in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. The bazaar offers a wide variety of unique food options, including organic food, pastries, and drinks, creating a truly exceptional culinary experience.

With Mercato Centrale’s arrival in Acacia Estates, the Halloween season promises to be an unforgettable celebration of food, community, and culture. Come and indulge in the diverse flavors and offerings, all while building connections with your neighbors and embracing the spirit of the season.
