Every July, Nutrition Month serves as a timely reminder that healthy living begins with the choices we make every day, especially when it comes to the food we bring to our tables. While maintaining a balanced diet may seem challenging amid busy schedules, eating healthier can start with something as simple as choosing fresh, locally grown ingredients.

At select DMCI Homes communities, residents can conveniently do just that through the Weekend Market, where fresh fruits, vegetables, and locally made products are brought closer to home. More than just a place to shop, the Weekend Market encourages healthier eating habits while supporting Filipino farmers and reducing food waste.

Why Fresh Ingredients Matter

Healthy meals begin with quality ingredients. Fresh vegetables and fruits are naturally rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and dietary fiber that help support the body's daily nutritional needs. They also serve as the foundation of a balanced diet, making it easier to prepare meals that are both delicious and nourishing.

Shopping for fresh produce regularly also encourages meal planning, allowing households to prepare more home-cooked meals instead of relying on highly processed or fast food options. Whether you're preparing colorful salads, hearty vegetable soups, fruit smoothies, or nutritious stir-fried dishes, having fresh ingredients readily available makes healthy choices much more accessible.

A Convenient Way to Eat Better

One of the biggest challenges to healthy eating is convenience. Between work, school, and other responsibilities, finding time to visit public markets or grocery stores isn't always easy.

The Weekend Market addresses this by bringing fresh produce directly into select DMCI Homes communities. Residents can conveniently purchase freshly harvested vegetables, fruits, herbs, and locally produced goods just steps away from home, making it easier to stock up on nutritious ingredients for the week ahead.

It's a simple convenience that encourages families to cook more meals at home, reduce unnecessary trips, and make healthier food choices part of their everyday routine.

Supporting Local Farmers, One Market Day at a Time

Beyond promoting healthy living, every purchase at the Weekend Market creates a positive impact on local farming communities.

Since May 2025, DMCI Homes has partnered with the Tuba Agri Tourism Community (TATC) to launch the Weekend Market with Tuba Farmers, providing vegetable farmers from Tuba, Benguet with direct access to consumers across select DMCI Homes condominium communities.

By allowing farmers to sell directly to residents, the initiative helps reduce dependence on intermediaries, minimize transport costs, and lessen food waste caused by unsold produce. Fresh harvests reach consumers more efficiently while farmers receive better returns for their hard work.

The program has already generated meaningful results. Since its launch, the Weekend Market has hosted 45 market days across 17 DMCI Homes communities, distributing more than 37 tons of fresh produce, generating ₱5.6 million in gross sales, and reaching approximately 11,000 residents. The initiative has also helped farmers significantly increase their income while reducing produce spoilage that would otherwise go to waste.

These efforts recently earned DMCI Homes its first Asia Pacific Tambuli Award, recognizing the Weekend Market with Benguet Farmers for creating meaningful social impact through community partnership and sustainable business practices.

Celebrate Nutrition Month with Fresh Choices

Healthy living starts with small, intentional decisions made every day. This Nutrition Month, let fresh ingredients inspire more home-cooked meals, balanced nutrition, and meaningful moments around the dining table.

If you're a resident of a participating DMCI Homes community, visit the Weekend Market and discover how choosing fresh, locally grown produce can benefit not only your family's well-being but also the hardworking farmers who make every harvest possible.

Sometimes, the healthiest choices are also the ones that help others thrive.
