Decorating Your Condo For Christmas

Amidst the holiday rush – gift shopping and planning your December trip, decorating your Condo for Christmas may be at the bottom of your to-do list. But there’s nothing like dressing up your space to keep you in a festive mood throughout the season. Even if you’re pressed for time, there are so many ways to get your home into a merry mood.

It’s all about the lights.

Once carols start playing on the radio, you pretty much know it’s Christmas. Next, trees of all shapes, sizes and colors start popping in mall displays. But aside from the familiar tunes and shrubbery, Christmas is all about the lights – lots and lots of it.

Whether it’s plain white, yellow or an assortment of colors, you can never go wrong with a string of lights. Decorating your condo with brilliant and warm LED lights is a sure way to make your space instantly come alive. Just hang it on the walls, the windows or drape on furniture. You can even make it into various fun shapes – trees, stockings, and reindeer.

LED lights are already a great energy-saver. But if you’re looking for a more eco-friendly and romantic approach, try candles. Get a tree shaped candelabra and fill with your favorite scented candles. As they burn, they will make for an aromatic nightlight.

Branch it out.

Christmas trees may not be your thing. If you find them too traditional, then opt for a more sophisticated and modern approach – branches. Branches remind you of trees without the bulk. Minimalists will be especially fond of the thin painted white varieties.

For added style, place the branches on a tall vase. Solid-colored vases in red and white or those in printed festive patterns are the best. Adorn the branches with your choice of Christmas ornaments, mix with flowers, put on your table top and you’re all set.

Deck the walls.

A new paint job for Christmas may be going slightly overboard. If you want your walls to get into the holiday spirit, just use decals. Buy from the store or be creative. Make your own decals with pictures, cutouts and double-sided tape. Making a tree out of pictures is a great reminder of what Christmas is all about – family.

Just make sure your stickers go on and off easily. You wouldn’t want to ruin the paint underneath. Better yet, find other smooth surfaces like your fridge, furniture or windows and stick some Christmas cheer on them.

Aside from “sticking” the Christmas spirit, try “hanging” it as well. Get your ordinary coat hanger or key rack December-ready by hanging stockings on it. If there’s enough space, you can even hang a pretty wreath.

Let your sheets speak.

Can’t get Christmas out of your head? Excited about meeting family, the gifts and the scrumptious dinner? If thinking about the holidays is keeping you up then better bring Christmas into your bedroom.

Trade your normal sheets for something more cheerful – colorful patterns that will help get you in the mood for the season. Once the rush sets in, these comfortable and merry sheets will help you focus on the best things about the season. They’ll also have you sleeping the holiday stress away.  If they don’t, at least you’re assured a colorful Christmas. So, don’t stop at the bedroom. Change the curtains, even the throw pillows.

Make your table merry.

Don’t you just wish you could have Christmas dinner all year round? Well, now you can, for the entire season at least. How? Break out your Christmas plates and dust them off. If you haven’t got any, buy a couple. Start using your “Christmas” dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pour a cup of hot coffee into a Christmas mug and imagine that you’re sipping eggnog.

In between meals, keep the table merry with a serving bowl or tray filled with assorted Christmas ornaments and sweets – chocolates and candy canes.

With these, you can make your holidays more welcoming. Setting up your condo with a contemporary Christmas look oozes out a homey feel, making it a good place to extend the boding activities between you and your loved ones.
